18 from KB Tiong Hua complete Jawi
course

A young member from the Tiong Hua community receives her
certificate
Eighteen members from the Tiong Hua
community in Kuala Belait who completed a Jawi writing course received
their certificates of participation during the closing ceremony held
yesterday afternoon at the Kuala Belait Dakwah Islamiah Centre. The
chief guest at the function was the Assistant Director of the Dakwah
Islamiah Centre, Ustazah Hjh Zasia binte Sirin.

Adanan bin Hj Md Jaya, in his speech stated that the eight-week Jawi
writing course was first started in the year 2001 and since then, 44
participants had successfully completed the course and received their
certificates of participation.
Awg Hj Adanan added that that the
course was aimed at fostering closer ties between the officers of the
KB Dakwah Islamiah Centre and the members of the Tiong Hua community
as well to provide knowledge and experience to the participants in
reading and writing Jawi.
The recent course was the third one
held so far for the Tiong Hua community since the first one was
launched in April, 2001.
Awg Hj Adanan further stated that the
course held for the Chinese community had shown positive results as a
seminar on understanding Islamic religion in Mandarin will be held May
25 at the Tiong Hua Chinese Community Business Hall in conjunction
with the Maulud celebrations. It is organised by the KB Tiong Hua
community
Also attending yesterday's function
were the Pehin Bendahari Cina, Awg Ng Teck Hock and the KB Chief
Religious Officer, Pg Hj Mustapa bin Pg Aliuddin.
