Indon charged for illegal entry
By Rol Ezam
An Indonesian man paid his B$500 fine
when Magistrate Dk Masni Pg Hj Bahar imposed the sentence on him after
he pleaded guilty to entering Brunei without a valid pass. In default
of paying the fine imposed, Rudi Hartono, 25 would have been liable
for a one-month period of imprisonment, said the Immigration
Prosecuting Officer, Reduan Hj Adnan at the Tutong Magistrate's Court
yesterday.
Upon being denied entry by the
immigration officer at the Sungai Tujuh control post, the defendant
allegedly entered his cousin's car, which bore a Brunei registration
number, waited just outside the passport clearance terminal, and went
into Brunei.
Immigration Officers at the control
post noticed the incident and immediately informed the Enforcement
Section officers about the matter. The officers subsequently managed
to stop him in the vicinity of the tollbooth at Jalan Rasau, Reduan
said.
