Women's Bureau Celebrates Its Achievements 

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Women's Bureau celebrated their 6th anniversary yesterday.

Present at the function was the Brunei Muara Assistant District Officer, Pengiran Abd. Haris.

The Women's Bureau was formed in 1997.

Dayang Hajah Fatimah said joining the Bureau has given her an opportunity to gain more experience and friendship.

A 73-year-old Nayang Hajah Lumat, one of the oldest member in the bureau said she enjoyed being a member which enabled her to visit interesting places in the country.

While a 42-year-old housewife, Dayang Halimah who joined the bureau in order to fill in her spare time also encourages her daughters to join the bureau, which among other things teaches them to improve their social skills and become self-dependent.

The Women Bureau of Mukim Consultative Council of Mukim Berakas B and the Women Bureau of Kampong Consultative Council of the Lambak Kanan Housing Scheme in Area 2 are two of the active associations in Brunei that promotes the well-being of women in the country.   -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
