Begawan - Schools in the country are urged to maintain good
hygiene all throughout the year and not just in the wake of SARS.
Deputy Minister of Education, Dato

enable students to learn better.
He said clean-up campaign should be
carried out continuously and not only in the wake of SARS.
According to the Deputy Education
Minister, cleanliness can contribute to an environment that is
conducive for learning.
The Deputy Minister also stressed
that with visits to schools, it is suggested that the efforts in
cleaning the school's premises and compound must not be carried out
solely as a campaign but as a habit.
Earlier, Dato Awang Haji Suyoi
launched a clean-up campaign against SARS aimed at instilling
awareness on self-cleanliness to all students. The campaign is now
being extended to the Belait District.

primary, secondary schools and one vocational school in the Belait
District.
It was mainly focused on the
importance of instilling the culture of keeping self and environment
cleanliness among the society especially the students.
The initiative is vital due to the
SARS virus which can spread through coughing and sneezing as well as
close encounter.
"Therefore, practising the habit
of washing hands before and after going to the toilet helps maintain
clean environment in class or laboratories. It is appropriate measures
to prevent from SARS infection," he said.

several students taking part in the campaign and they explained what
