Two Thai Men Arrested In A Drug Bust

Bandar Seri Begawan - Two Thai men in their early 40s were arrested during a raid on a house in Kg Sinarubai, Bengkurong Masin yesterday.

The raid, which turned out to be a drug bust, was the second carried out on same house.

Senior Immigration Officer Kifli Haji Bini led 11 Immigration Enforcement personnel to a follow-up raid to pursue immigration offenders. The Enforcement Team on Monday night found the target house to be empty.

During their inspection, Immigration personnel discovered several drug utensils in the room of the raided house. They immediately contacted the Narcotics Control Bureau who later dispatched some of its officers to the house.

Informed sources said that upon further inspection, NCB officers discovered four pills believed to be 'Yaba', a form of drug from Thailand and also 5 straws believed to contain Syabu. The NCB officers also found other utensils that are used to consume drugs. These items were all confiscated by the NCB.

The Thai men were detained by the NCB for further investigations. They will also be referred back to the Immigration Department after their investigation is completed. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
