Be prepared, nurses told

The guest of honour giving a certificate to a participant
Nurses in the country are called to
always be prepared and alert in facing with unexpected factors like
the outbreak of the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
that has affected many countries in the world. They should also be
equipped with modern effective procedure in coping with such factors
as nursing, like any other types of profession, is continuously
exposed to changes in technology development, social culture and
medical and health services.

Mohammad, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education,
said this during the closing ceremony of a workshop on research and
statistical package for advanced diploma courses in nursing.
The ceremony was held at SEAMEO
VOCTECH Regional Centre premises yesterday.
Datin Paduka Hajah Jahrah, the guest
of honour at the ceremony, said that nurses should upgrade their
knowledge and skills from time to time like always referring to
research reports.
She said the workshop is very
relevant to students of the advanced diploma nursing courses and the
midwifery diploma course as it will help to equip them with knowledge
and skills in making reports and in using research analysis.
She said the knowledge and skills
relating to research analysis that the participants had gained through
the course should be practiced and applied in their daily work.
Furthermore, she encouraged other
nurses who are currently studying at Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah
Sa'adatul Bolkiah Nursing college to attend the same course.
One of the objectives of the workshop
is to introduce a system named 'Statistical Products for Services
Solutions' to the participants.
The system will assist them to
analyse data by using computer more effectively and efficiently.
The highlight of yesterday's event
was the presentation of certificates to the 80 participants of the
course.

Abdullah, the Principal of Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa'adatul
Bolkiah Nursing college, gave the welcoming speech at the function.
