PPPMB unveils economic plans

The Brunei Malay Entrepreneurs
Federation (PPPMB) on Monday night unveiled various plans and
strategies to improve the economic situation of its members as well as
making significant contribution to the national economy. The
three-hour meeting, held at the Hariza Restaurant, Beribi was chaired
by the permanent Chairman Hj Abdul Rahman Yusof and attended by the
President Dr Hj Abdul Latif Chuchu, two deputy presidents, Pg
Shahminan Pg Hj Ismail and Hj Ismail Damit, and other executive
committee members.
The federation unveiled its five-year
plan until the next general election where it will form a Lembaga
Amanah or Trust Council, Lembaga Disiplin or Disciplinary Council and
the setting up of a business centre and a restaurant to cater for
members' varying needs at its office at No 16, 2nd Floor, Bangunan
Desa Delima, Simpang 44, Kg Pancha Delima, Berakas.
The Trust Fund is an investment wing
of the federation where a member is expected to contribute $50 per
month towards capital for any agreed projects to be done by the
federation.
Earlier on, PPPMB had visualised for
the federation to own its own commercial building within five years.
The Disciplinary Council will hear
all grievances from members on disciplinary breaches by other members.
"The council will also convene
to decide the fate of members who have contravened disciplinary acts
such as criminal breach of trust or fig thing amongst
themselves," said Hj Abdul Rahman who will lead the five-member
council.
The setting up of a business centre
is to cater administration needs of members who do not have their own
offices.
Such members can utilise the centre
to fax their business letters, use the address of the office for their
business needs, use the phones for business purposes, surf the
internet or send email, and all other related products usually offered
by such centre.
However, members who wish to utilise
offered services will be charged fees to cover costs and expenditure
running the centre.

also suggested for the office to be used as a business reference
centre where they can get catalogues and details of overseas companies
to cater for their local supply needs.
"The centre should also collect
local business information including PPPMB members for reference
purposes," he said.
The meeting also discussed silver
jubilee celebration where at least three events had been earmarked to
take place in September.
The events include Business
Entrepreneurs Summit, Malay concert and trade exposition.
Hj Ilmi Hj Ghafar is the new
secretary-general also accepted his appointment by acquiring all
federation's documents from the former acting secretary-general Pg
Shahminan. He will be aided by Haji Johari bin Pehin Hj Omar, the new
deputy secretary-general.
The federation's next meeting will be
held at 8pm on June 2 at its office in Bangunan Desa Delima, Berakas.
