The Philippine Embassy won the best booth award at the 9th International Women's Club of Brunei (IWCB) Charity Bazaar at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong last Sunday. It was cited for its originality, touch of class, presentation, creativity and teamwork in bringing in decorative materials and Philippine craft and paintings.

On sale were various Philippine handicraft like baskets, picture frames, jewellery boxes, throw pillow cases, mother of pearl brooches, coconut twigs, t-shirts and paintings.

Members of the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino community who manned the booth wore distinctively-styled outfits that further attracted the judges' attention.

The Langkawi Malaysia booth won 2nd place. The booth of Pg Hjh Aishah placed third. The judges were Mrs. Peck Lee and Pg. Hjh Siti Mariam PRW Pg Hj. Metussin.

The guest of honour, Mdme Pham Thi Phuong, wife of the Vietnamese Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, handed the award to Philippine Ambassador Virginia H. Benavidez.

The charity bazaar brought together several women from Brunei, the Diplomatic Corps and other sectors for a humanitarian and worthy endeavour, said Ambassador Benavidez.
