Brunei Ruler Tours On $54 Million Twin Takaful Building

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty decided to have a closer look at the offices and facilities provided in the new twin buildings. They are the Dar Takaful Ibb Utama and Dar Takaful Dua buildings.

The new buildings are a new landmark in Bandar Seri Begawan.

Situated along Jalan Pemancha, they are strategically facing the Taman Haji Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien and just a few hundred meters away from the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah complex and the majestic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

His Majesty first stopped at the eighth floor of the new building which houses the chairman's and managing director's office.

The nine-storey Dar Takaful Utama building is fully equipped with modern facilities.

The construction started on 5th June 1997 and was fully completed at end of January this year at a total cost of $54.4 million.

His Majesty then proceeded to the fifth floor and took a closer look at the luxurious office spaces.

The Dar Takaful Utama building has office spaces on the second, seventh and eighth floors.

From the third floor to the sixth floor, the office spaces are available for rent.

From the fifth floor of the Dar Takaful IBB Utama, His Majesty then proceeded to the twelve-storey Dar Takaful Dua building.

Both the buildings are connected with a link bridge and stand adjacent to the present IBB bank building.

The link bridge also serves as an easy access to the IBB bank building. The Dar Takaful Dua building's car park provides more than one hundred and eighty parking lots.

His Majesty's first stop at the Dar Takaful IBB Dua was at the seventh floor.

Here the facilities include two separate Jacuzzis, saunas, and gyms for men and women users.

On the eighth floor there are two badminton courts, two squash courts and a swimming pool.

The Dar Takaful Dua building also provides twelve service apartments which include two units of deluxe apartment and two executive apartments.

The executive apartment has a picturesque view of Bandar Seri Begawan including the Istana Nurul Iman.

His Majesty later went back to the Dar Takaful Utama building to have a closer look at the operation counters on the first floor.

With eleven branches in total, Takaful IBB Berhad provides extensive services in all the four districts and recently two more branches began their operations.

Curently Takaful IBB Berhad's has 67 staff members.

Takaful IBB Berhad has more than fifteen percent of the market share of the whole insurance industry in Brunei Darussalam and about 70 percent of the Takaful industry.

Established on 5th may 1993 following 46th birthday's Titah of His Majesty Sultan of Brunei Takaful IBB Berhad is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

Being the first company to offer Takaful products to the Brunei public, Takaful IBB Berhad is now the largest Takaful Company currently offering a wide range of general and family products such as motor insurance and Takaful dream house plan in accordance with the Islamic principle.

To date, the total number of participants of Takaful Keluarga or the Family Insurance and Takaful AM or the General Insurance stands at more than 50,300.

His majesty later consented to launch the Takaful IBB logo in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of the Takaful IBB Berhad.

With the economic development showing an improvement, Takaful IBB Berhad has been able to increase its profits before Zakat and before tax, totalling $1.5 million for the financial year ending 2003.

His Majesty also consented to launch the new Takaful product, Pelan Takaful Tarbiyah. The new product a systematic system of financing children's overseas education.

His Majesty later consented to launch the Takaful IBB website containing the product of IBB Takaful. The new website is http://www.takaful-ibb.com.

To date Takaful IBB Berhad has been offering twenty one products: eleven in general insurance, six in family insurance and four new products.

IBB Takaful Berhad believes that the Islamic insurance industry will continue to develop in the future.
