With the unemployment dilemma faced
by some students, the Fire Services Department is inviting Bruneian
citizens to register for the department's new recruitment intake this
year.
The registration exercise started on
30th April 2003 and this is a good opportunity for job-seekers to find
employment.
According to Othman Jailani, the Head
of Public Relations and Education Department of Brunei Fire Services
Headquarters, the department has received an overwhelming response
from the public and so far it has received applications from more than
300 male and female job-hunters.
He told the Bulletin that the
academic qualification required by the applicants is a PMB Certificate
and they must be between 18-28 years old. He added the male applicants
must be at least 1.63m tall, while female recruits must be 1.52 m
tall.
Othman Jailani said that the
applicants will be called to attend a written test and if successful,
the candidates will have to go for a physical-fitness test.
The final procedure for the
applicants is a final interview and if successful they will be
recruited and placed under six months' probation.
He said that the applicants should be
healthy and obtain a health certificate from a Health Government
Centre.
In the year 2001, the Fire Services
Department revealed that it received more than 2,000 applications and
the department hoped that this year will be the same.
Most of the applicants were graduates
and undergraduates.
Othman Jailani urged students and the
unemployed to register for recruitment. The closing date for
registration is 13th May 2003.
For more details, the applicants can
call the Fire Services Department at Berakas Station at telephone
