Sultanate's International Women Meet
For Charity Bazaar
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Keeping up good relations between local and foreign
women is a good idea. It can be beneficial to both parties as they
could share and exchange ideas and experiences.
To further this ides a daylong
international charity bazaar conducted by the International Women Club
(IWC) yesterday provided numerous opportunities especially for
businesswomen.
The bazaar was officially opened by
the wife of Vietnamese Ambassador, Madam Pham Thi Phuong at the
Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong.
More than forty participants
representing foreign embassies, High Commissions and local
businesswomen participated in the bazaar, which offered items ranging
from clothes, accessories, handicraft and food of different countries.
Most Asean countries such as Vietnam
and Brunei promoted their own silver handicraft. The bazaar was aimed
at fostering closer relationship between the women community in the
country.
Often, during such bazaar each
country will put up their traditional fashion designs.
Cambodian and Vietnamese traditional
dresses offered creative ideas to some local boutique owners. Proceeds
from the bazaar will go to the Pusat Ehsan in Kampong Bengkurong.
The local food products have to be
marketed more widely so that the community at large particularly
today's youths will gain an idea of what local food is.
A food fair was held at the Sultan
Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation in the capital.
The objective of the fair was to
introduce local food including processed and ready-made food to
entrepreneurs and give the customers the opportunity to taste the
food.
