Tilawah Al-Quran contest in KB

A total of 14 students including 7
females participated in the heats of Tilawah Al-Quran Competition
yesterday, which is a national level competition for students of
Religious Schools, Arabic Preparatory Schools and Pioneering Schools
in Kuala Belait. The competition saw participants from all the four
districts in the Sultanate and was held at the Sungai Taring Religious
School in Kg Lumut, Seria.
The competition, among other things,
was aimed to encourage students to always recite the Al-Quran the
correct way as well as to expose and to enhance their talent in the
recitation of Al-Quran the 'tilawah' way.
Emerging as the champion in the male
section was Awang Mohd Nurazri bin Abd Mustafa from PMA Azim Religious
School followed by Awang Mohd. Faiz bin Hj Metussin from Beribi
Religious School. In third place was Awang Ahmad Jazmi bin Hj Sulaiman
from PSBSOAS Kuala Belait Religious School.
In the female section, Dayang Maisrah
Hj Mohd Naim from Sungai Liang Religious School emerged as the
champion. In second and third place were Dayang Nurul Najihah binti Hj
Mahadin from Lumapas Religious School and Dayang Nurul Janah Abdul
Wahab from PMAM Bengkurong Religious School respectively.
Present as the Chief Guest at the
ceremony was Ustaz Hj Abd Aziz Hj Mohd Jamil, the Head of Al-Quran
Section at the Islamic Studies Department who also consented to
present prizes to the winners.
