Minister Visits Belait District To
See Mosques
Kuala Belait –
The progress and development of mosques in the Sultanate continue to
be observed and scrutinised by government authority.
The Minister of Religious Affairs,
Pehin Dato Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohammad Zain said this during a
working visit to have a closer look on mosques affairs in the Belait
District.
Pehin
Dato Dr Ustaz Haji Awang Mohammad Zain, first visited the Kampong Labi
Mosque in Ulu Belait located about 74-kilometers from Kuala Belait
town area.
The mosque was built on a 2.5 hectare
of land and was fully completed in 1978. The mosque which cost
$156,000 can accommodate about 200-worshippers.
It is currently under maintenance and
renovation works.
In the Belait District, there are two
mosques, which are under the individual sponsorships.
One mosque is Al-Mashor Mosque
situated in Kampong Sungai Mau. The Al-Mashor Mosque also came under
the scrutiny of the Religious Minister yesterday.
The mosque is a Waqaf from Awang Haji
Malai Mashor. It was built on a one-hectare site of land in 1990 and
completed one year later. Built at the cost of $162,000, the mosque
can accommodate about 200 worshippers.
A special facility is the library
room.
In the afternoon, the minister
visited two main mosques in the Belait District namely the Muhammad
Jamalul Alam Mosque and the Pekan Seria Mosque.
Also in the entourage was the Belait
District Officer, Awang Adnan.
The working visit was aimed at taking
a closer look at the administration affairs of the mosque, the taqmir
and maintenance of mosque buildings.
The visit also aimed at fostering
