Booze Lookout At Border Points 

Bandar Seri Begawan - Booze lookout on local Muslims continues. And the law enforcement agencies implemented appropriate measures to ensure that the public abide by the rules and regulations of this country.

The Royal Brunei Police conducted a roadblock at Kuala Lurah border checkpoint to crack down on errant drivers on Thursday night.

The operation started at 8.15pm involved the police of the Limau Manis Police Station.

During the spot check, several drivers were held for offending the traffic rules and regulations.

Five were fined for various offences such as using tinted glass, failure to renew expired driving licence and fixing unauthorised plate number.

The rules stipulate that it's an offence to make structural changes to the vehicle.

Apart from ensuring that the vehicles are legally registered, the police also wanted to ensure that the passengers have proper travelling document when passing through the Kuala Lurah checkpoint, and that they do not attempt to smuggle goods.

Meanwhile ten Muslims were fined for drinking liquor.

Only non-Muslims are permitted to bring limited amount of alcoholic drinks into the country for personal consumption.

However despite the Islamic principles, which prohibit a Muslim from taking liquor, there are some Muslims who break the rules. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
