A ceremony to commemorate the laying
of foundation for the new mosque at Perpindahan Bukit Beruang village
and its nearby areas in Tutong district was held yesterday.
The ceremony was officiated by Dato
Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Ahmad bin Haji Jumat, the Minister of
Development, yesterday.
It was stated that the cost of
building the mosque was about $1 million and it would be completed in
the month of August this year.
The area of land that was used to
build the mosque is 3.2 acre. The building of the mosque utilises the
concept of Bruneian-Malay design.
The mosque hall can accommodate 1,000
men and 200 women during mass prayers.
Furthermore other facilities were
also provided such as an Imam room, VIP rooms, kitchen, ablution
places for males and females, a storeroom and other rooms.
It is hoped that the residents of the
Perpindahan Bukit Beruang village and its nearby areas will make full
use of the new upcoming mosque.
There are about 1,800 residents from
that area, all of whom are Muslims and are currently still performing
their prayers at their old mosque.
