Man fined for buying 4D tickets
By Rol Ezam

A 34-year-old man, Lu Eng Thai, who admitted to buying Malaysian 4-digit (4D) lottery tickets last year, was fined $600 or a month's imprisonment by the Magistrate's Court two days ago. Prosecuting Officer, Hj Afif Daraina PD Hj Badaruddin, said the defendant had pleaded not guilty to a charge of assisting in collecting 10,000 4D tickets but pleaded guilty to an alternative charge of buying the 4D lottery tickets.

The defendant was caught at his house no. 221 in Kg Manggis II, Jalan Muara by a team of CID personnel in search of illegal 4D activity on August 22. The search found a notebook in a drawer in the living room and another notebook in the defendant's bedroom. Certain pages in the notebooks containing writing indentations, which were believed to be related to 4D activity, were seized, he said.
