Unemployed Man Needs Assistance To Survive

Bandar Seri Begawan - A family living in a pitiful condition in Kampong Lumapas 'B' is in dire need of assistance and basic necessities to continue their living.

Radio Television Brunei (RTB) crew went to the family's house to know more about their living condition.

Abdul Kamis bin Minggas is now living in a house belonging to his late father. The 31-year-old former Army personnel, is supporting two wives and eight children.

He told RTB that he is in need of any assistance to survive with his family. He said that his house badly needs repairs.

His house has no proper facilities. There is no proper toilet and no living room.

The family recently received a donation in the form of a gas stove and cooking utensils. Previously, they used charcoal for cooking. Since there is no electricity supply to the house, the family uses candles during night time.

Awang Kamis' youngest child is only one year old while the eldest is about ten. Three of his children had to discontinue schooling because of financial difficulties.

Awang Kamis and his wives do some farming for a living.

Today, Abdul Kamis received food donation from the Sport and Social Body of the Postal Service.

The Penghulu of Mukim Lumapas, Awang Haji Abdul Bakar, who was present, advised Abdul Kamis to find a job to support his family. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
