'Preserve Brunei Royal Custom,'
Brunei Leaders Told

Begawan - Brunei society has to take the initiative to ensure
that the Brunei Royal Custom will always be preserved and practised by
the next generation.

Pengiran Lela Cheteria Sahibun Najabah Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz
said this at the closing ceremony of the course on the Brunei Royal
Custom for people who have been bestowed titles at the Dewan
Persantapan Lapau yesterday.
"The features of discipline,
courtesy and respect should be installed in the mind of every member
of the community through proper guidance, he said."
He added that good behaviour as well
as the appropriate way of speaking reflects the good name and image of
the Malay Bruneians who are respected by other races in the world.
The chief of State Adat Istiadat also
said that such practice will help the community to counter social
problems faced by the world today.
The course was designed especially
for those who hold the titles of Pehin Khatib, Mudim, Manteri
Hulubalang, Juru and Manteri Darat.
Some 65 people, who have been
bestowed titles comprising mosque and government officials, Penghulus
and Kampong Ketuas, received their certificates.
The Public Service Institute and the
Department of the State Adat Istiadat jointly organised the four-day
to enhance the understanding on royal custom as well as increase
knowledge on culture and tradition. -- Courtesy
