Three Drug Abusers Ordered To Be Rehabilitated At Centre

Bandar Seri Begawan - In another bid to nab drug abusers in the Sultanate, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) made a number of arrests and hauled them to court yesterday.

Wan Nokman Hj Wan Drus was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment yesterday for consumption of syabu and was ordered to enter the rehabilitation centre right after serving his sentence.

In a separate case, Shafiee Hj Metussin, who faced two charges under the Misuse of Drugs Act, was imposed a four-year jail term.

Two other drug abusers, Masrul Matassin and Md Taufik Ilyas, were ordered to have their urine samples re-tested and brought for further mention on June 30 after being fined $1,200 or 3 months imprisonment in default, after pleading guilty to consumption of methylamphetamine.

In another case, Sofian Hj Suot was ordered to undergo the rehabilitation programme at Rumah Al-Islah following a doctor's recommendation.

Zulkifli Hj Tinggal, who was placed under mandatory supervision after his release from Rumah Al-Islah, had his urine sample tested positive for syabu. He was jailed for 3 years. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
