The Brunei Islamic Religious Council
made another initiative to provide assistance to the poor and the
needy in the country when it presented a house key to Dayang Hasnah
bte Abdullah at the house located at Simpang 66, Kg Bengkurong
yesterday.
The guest of honour, Dato Seri Setia
Awang Haji Rajid bin Haji Abdul Kadir, the Director of Mosque Affairs
at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, handed over the key to the
recipient during a presentation ceremony held at the house.
Under the charity project, the
council provided Dayang Hasnah and her family a single-storey house
which costs B$48,400 and is equipped with furniture costing B$1,000.
Covering an area of 104.025 square metres, the house comprises 3
bedrooms, 1 dining room, 1 kitchen, 1 toilet, 1 bathroom and 1 living
room.
Such assistance is granted through
the zakat collection made by the council (Asnaf Muallaf).
The house was built on Dec 19 last
year and completed on March 4 this year.
The presentation ceremony began with
the recital of Al-Fatihah and followed by the 'Dikir Marhaban'
performance in the vicinity of the house.
The guest of honour also planted a
tree near the house to commemorate the occasion. There were also
thanksgiving prayers to bless the ceremony.
It is hoped that with such
contribution made by the council, Dayang Hasnah and her siblings would
live in peace and comfort, and also would enable them to perform their
daily religious obligations.
