Another locally sold traditional medicine has been found to be contaminated with poison. The Ministry of Health in a press release wishes to inform the public that 'Jamu Ramuan Traditional Madura Sihat Badan' has been found to contain Phenylbutazone, a substance controlled under the Poisons Act.

The long term unsupervised consumption of Phenylbutazone may lead to hearing disturbance, shortness of breath, swelling of face or lower legs and blood disorder.

The public is advised not to purchase or consume this product which is currently available in the local market.

Those who have the affected product are advised to destroy or surrender it to the Pharmacy Enforcement Section, Block 2G, 7th Floor, B.S.B. Health Centre in Jalan Ong Sum Ping.

The Ministry of Health would again like to remind the public that it is an offence under the Poisons Act to sell any product containing a substance controlled under the said Act. The penalty for such offence upon conviction is a fine of B$8,000 or 6 months imprisonment.
