Reports Of Two Brunei Women Having
SARS Denied
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Reports about two Bruneian women who were believed to
have contracted the deadly disease Sars after travelling to countries
infected by the virus is unfounded.
This was confirmed by the Medical
Officer from the Diseases Control Section of the Ministry of Health,
Dr. Pengiran Haji Hishamuddin to the media yesterday.
According to reports, the two women
were first suspected to have contracted the disease after surveillance
medical check carried on them on April 27 at the international airport
recorded high body temperature.
They had just then returned from
Canada and Singapore. However, follow-up tests found both women free
of Sars.
Concerned for their safety, both
women personally requested to undergo quarantine, at the sars
surveillance centre in RIPAS Hospital and they have now been confirmed
negative of Sars.
However, the Ministry of Health once
again reminded the public to refrain from travelling overseas unless
necessary.
