By Rosli Abidin Yahya & Achong Tanjong
A Chinese businessman with a large
business interest in Brunei Darussalam was robbed by four
knife-wielding robbers who burst into his accommodation early Sunday
morning. The four robbers tied the businessman while they ransacked
his bedroom and escaped with a substantial amount of jewellery. The
robbers failed to find any money.
The robbery happened at about 4 am to
5 am on Saturday at the residence of the respected businessmen near
the capital.
The robbers were suspected to be
foreign workers as they only spoke English throughout the
businessman's ordeal.
They were looking for money but could
not get any. They got away with substantial amount of jewellery owned
by the spouse of the businessman.
The businessman is a well-known and
respected figure in the local business world.
Many years ago, robbers also burst
into the accommodation of another Chinese businessman, in a similar
modus operandi.
The latest robbery had caused many
local businessmen to tighten security at their accommodation.
The Royal Brunei Police are
investigating the case.
