Magistrate issues stern warning to
drug offenders

The Bandar Supreme Magistrate's Court
yesterday warned five first-time drug offenders not to commit the
offence for the second time, as being a second offender could lead to
a minimum 3 years imprisonment sentence. Four local men, Dali Hj Sabtu,
Hj Azamain Hj Yahya, Khairul Rizam Tuah, Abd Majid Abd Kadir and one
local woman, Dk Norain Pg Hj Ismail pleaded guilty to all their
respective charges.
Senior Magistrate Hj Abdullah Soefri
first imposed fines totalling $3,800 in default of 7 months
imprisonment to Dali after he pleaded guilty to having in his
possession 15.594 milligrammes of methylamphetamine, consumed
methylamphetamine and having in his possession drug articles.
Dali was caught by the NCB personnel
on September 26 two years ago at the vicinity of Kg Buang Sakar's
jetty.
Hj Azamain was imposed fines
totalling to $2,300 or 4 months imprisonment in default after he
pleaded guilty to consuming a class A controlled drug,
methylamphetamine and having in his possession of drug utensils.
He was caught at house No. 762-D in
Kg Serdang while he was inside a car bearing the registration number
BT 6231.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Hj Abdullah
imposed a fine of $1,500 or 3 months imprisonment each on Khairul
Rizam, Abd Majid and Dk Norain for consuming methylamphetamine.
Narcotics Control Bureau Prosecuting
officer Pg Othman Pg Hj Ali also applied to the Magistrate's Court for
all of them to retest their urine. They will again appear in the
Magistrate's Court on June 30, as granted.
