With the motto "Designed By Us, Made Especially For You," JL Jewellery has recently opened its business door in Yayasan Shopping Complex. Now, with the upcoming Mother's Day celebration, the company is slashing prices by 20 per cent. Shop owner Julia Laila said the sale, from May 1-11, is meant as an opportunity for young people to afford the jewelleries, as a token of love and appreciation for their mothers.

Black opal is the latest favourite, especially in Japan, said Julia, with prices ranging from $300 to $20,000.

One of the unique features of JL Jewellery is that the items found in the shop are distinctive from the mass market. She added that the shop is more than willing to customise jewelleries to the taste of the customers, without sacrificing the quality and elegance of the original piece.

Hailing from Hong Kong, Julia's family has been involved in the jewellery business for over 40 years; it was the family that she picked up her knowledge from.

It was her passion for jewellery that led her to setting up a jewellery business in Brunei, she said.
