Her Majesty Graces Event To
Celebrate Maulidur Rasul

Begawan - Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Saleha
consented to grace the Special Convention for Women to mark'
Maulidur Rasul celebration for the year of 1429 Hijrah at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas yesterday.
Her Majesty was accompanied by Her
Royal Highness Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Hjh Zariah, Her
Royal Highness Princess Hafizah Sururul Bulqiah, Her Royal Highness
Princess Hjh Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam and Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka
Seri Pengiran Anak Puteri Hjh Noor Ehsani.
Upon arrival, the royal entourage'
were greeted by the co-chairpersons, as well as, other committee
members for this year's celebration, lining up along their way into
the plenary hall, accompanied by the thunderous hadrah performance.
The ceremony began with the recital
of selected verses from the Holy Quran by Hjh Siti Khadijah Hj
Ibrahim, the champion of the National Youth Musabaqah Tilawah Al-Quran
2007.
A summary of the meaning of the
verses was read by Zurairatul Aini Dato Seri Setia Awg'Hj Rajid, an
education officer from the Islamic Studies Department, Ministry of
Religious Affairs.
Pengiran
Anak Datin Hjh Masnah Pengiran Anak Safiuddin, a special duties
officer, who is also the cochairperson for the convention said that
this year was the 14th time that the convention' was held and was
jointly organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Prime
Minister's Office and the Women's Council as well as associations
under the council.
The ceremony also featured a
special forum,' titled "Cabaran keluarga dalam Membentuk Tunas
Bangsa BerakhlakAl-Quran" or "Family Challenges in Shaping the
Nation's Youth with the morals of Al-Quran".
The highlight of the celebration
was the announcement of the recipients for the Anugerah Bakti Hijrah
Khas Wanita.
The awards were given to selected
females in appreciation for their active involvement and
contribution to the society, particularly in the religious aspect,
since the Islamic year of 1423 Hijrah (1992). Her Majesty then
consented to present the awards to the two selected recipients.
Prior to the ending of the
ceremony, a Dikir Marhaban was performed by officers and staff from
the Ministry of Religious Affairs,' the Prime Minister's Office and
members of the Women's Council.
During the recital of the dikir,
all guests, consisting of female students from secondary schools and
colleges, government officers as well as female staff from private
agencies and members of women associations, and the royal entourage
stood up and joined in the recital.
Meanwhile, the State Mufti
Department, the Islamic Da'wah Centre and the Language and
Literature Bureau, are organising a book exhibition featuring their
