Brunei PC Fair 2008 A Big Hit

Bandar Seri Begawan - The 2008 Brunei PC Fair themed "Make your life better with ICT" kicked off yesterday at The Mall in Gadong drawing a large number of people who thronged the many booths on the ground floor.

Organised by A M F Mass Event Management Services, the ten-day fair hopes to promote local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), particularly those whose business revolves around Information Communications Technology (ICT).

According to the organiser's spokesperson, 15 companies are participating in this year's PC fair, and there are a wide range of IT products on display at over 40 booths.

"We have a lot more new companies joining (the PC fair) this year," the spokesperson said.

"Each of the participating companies have come up with their own thing to try and beat the competition," she said, adding that this was an example of healthy competition.

It was learnt that one of the participating local ICT companies spent between. $50,000 and $60,000 just to decorate the booths.

The fair was launched by the guest of honour, Hj Alaihuddin Pchin Orang Kaya Di-Gadong Seri Lela Dato Seri Utama Hj Md Taha, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Communications.  -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
