Base Camp Focus On Sec. 3 Students

Bandar Seri Begawan - The inaugural
opening of the BASE (Brunei Association of Science Education) Centre
was held at Unit 2, Block 27, Anggerek Desa Flat in Berakas
yesterday, coinciding with the launch of its latest activity in the
calendar.
The 17th BASE National Science Camp
(March 26-29) is organised by BASE, with cooperation from the
Ministry of Education and Brunei Shell Petroleum Co Sdn Bhd as the
main sponsor.
BASE President Awang Makarimi bin
Haji Awg Kasim, in his welcoming speech yesterday said BASE was
fortunate to be given a permanent centre which was granted at the
end of 2007 by His Majesty's government through the Public Services
Department.
The chief guest extended his
appreciation to BASE generous sponsor BSP for its meaningful
contribution.
Meanwhile, the co-chairperson of the 17th BASE National
Science Camp, Eddy Fazlin bin Hj Amdan, said for almost 30 years
BASE has continued its mission in upgrading science education in the
country.
This year's 17th BASE Science Camp
focuses on Secondary 3 students to learn scientific topics in school
in CD form.
The outcome of the project will be
used in classroom learning besides using typical textbooks.
Among the activities lined up for
the participants were ice-breaking, OGDC activities, motivational
talks, Brunei AIDS association activities, 3014 scout troop
activities, night-cum-cultural night- and a tele-match.
Also present were Brunei AIDS
Council President Datin Hajah Edah Mohamed Noor, guests, BASE
