Rural Areas In Tutong Hit Hard By Floods
By H Bat

Tutong - Heavy rains over the past few days have caused flooding in the rural areas of Tutong as well as other rural areas in the Sultanate.

Continuous rains over Mukim Lamunin and Mukim Rambai resulted in swollen rivers, which led to floods that affected houses and main roads in the areas.

Currently, Jalan Rambai/Lamunin, Jalan Panchong Kuala Ungar and Penapar-Ukong are still badly affected by floodwaters.

A number of houses at Kampong Panchong, Kg Rambai and Kg Kuala Ungar are also inundated with floodwaters forcing the residents to park their vehicles on high grounds or by the roadsides. They have to walk across knee-deep floodwaters to reach their houses.

Roads submerged under water have also affected the movement of saloon vehicles in the areas.

The Fire and Rescue Department as well as RBAF have prepared boats to assist the villagers affected by the floods.

In addition, the RBAF has also prepared two trucks at Jalan Panchong, Kuala Ungar to ferry the villagers to town for their daily chores.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
