Spiritual Course Helps Foster
Strong Bond
By Nela Awang
Bandar Seri
Begawan -
Selected students attending a four-day religious and
spiritual course, Nadwah Kemurnian Rohani were left happy,
while living with new friends under one roof.
Abdul Hafiz Asmadi said that
although he was not very happy to be selected at first, he
eventually got used to getting up early and perform mass Subuh
prayers with his new friends.
What makes it more interesting for
the 14-year-old was that he misses living in the hostel and the stay
made him relived his past memories and experiences.
Having a similar concept like a
camp, the students are required to stay at the hostel of the centre
throughout the course.
Their everyday schedule is packed
with various activities, from morning till night, in which they will
be reciting Dikir Syarafil Anam.
"I learn more about Islam and all
my doubts were cleared thoroughly," Abdul Hafiz said.
Meanwhile, for 16-year-old Abdul
Hakim Hj Bagol, he enjoyed his stay at the hostel as he made new
friends with his room-mates and the rest of the participants.
"I like all the religious lectures
by the teachers through which I learnt a lot. But, the practicals of
prayers were the most useful for me and now I can perform my prayers
perfectly," the secondary three student from Masin Secondary School.
For Perdana Wazir Secondary School student Muhammad Haziq Mahali, he
did not expect himself to be selected to attend the course, and he
told The Brunei Times that he is grateful, as it benefitted him.
Furthermore, he "enjoyed living
with friends from other districts and share stories and
experiences".
Being the first time away from home
and his parents, he said that he learnt to be self- independent and
had to take care of himself. Of all the activities, Muhammad Haziq
was interested to learn the reciting of the tausyeh every night.
"If I am given the chance, I would
really like to attend similar course again," the 14-year-old said.
"I understand more about aqidah
(belief) and time management, and I enjoyed it very much," Muhd
Alamul Huda'a Hj Mahadi said.
Sports were also a favourite for
the participants, as it gave them the opportunity to enjoy their
school holidays and get their mind off the lessons conducted
throughout the course.
The annual programme is held to
instill the spirit of loving the religion, leader, country and
living in a society. The next course will be conducted for female
students during the second term school holiday in June.-- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
