Malaysian Star Serina Promotes
Brunei Hotspots
By Aemy Azlena
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Bruneians may have seen a familiar face touring
local hotspots over the last few days. She sported a charming smile
and was trailed by a camera crew. In fact, people may have asked
themselves: "Is that her?"
The answer is yes. It is Serina
Redzuawan, a Malaysian artiste who has made many appearances on
television and in movies.
Arriving in Brunei on March 17,
2008 she is in the Sultanate to shoot a new programme "Pictures of
Borneo" with the focus on Brunei, Sabah and Sarawak.
Serina went to many places of
interest, including Kampong Ayer, the Bandar Seri Begawan area, the
Empire Hotel and Country Club, the Royal Regalia, the Sultan Omar
Ali Saifuddien Mosque and the Jame Asr' Mosque.
During her trip, she was approached
by many fans asking for a quick word or a photo with her. She always
kindly consented.
Borneo Bulletin was invited to
accompany the Malaysian starlet on a number of her visits in Brunei.
We first met up with Serina and her
film crew from NurMedia Production on March 18, 2008 at Fratinis
Restaurant in Bandar Seri Begawan where they were hard at work,
filming a scene on the verandah with a scenic view of Kampong Ayer
as a backdrop.
They later went on a tour of
Kampong Ayer on boats supplied with the help of Brunei Tourism. They
passed a maze of houses that make up the water village.
And yesterday, the crew invited the
Bulletin to join them for an all-access tour of the Empire Hotel and
Country Club. Since her arrival in Brunei, the Empire has played
host and prepared accommodation for the Malaysian artiste and her
production crew.
"Working with Serina is fun and
she's a very wonderful person and friendly," said Ak Danny, Asst
Public Relations Manager of the Empire Hotel and Country Club, who
acted as guide on the tour on and off the camera.
We also had a chance to talk to
Serina about her sightseeing. She said that Brunei is an appropriate
tourism destination for anyone from around the world, regardless of
their race or country.
She described Brunei as unique and
beautiful, adding that its beauty such as the wonderful beaches will
make it possible to attract tourists.
Brunei is also a good place for
Muslim visitors as, she pointed out, and there is halal food all
around as well as many mosques and suraus.
Her top three places during her
visit? Her favourite spots are Kampong Ayer due to the kind and warm
people who made her feel welcome as well as its uniqueness; Fratinis
and Aneka Rasa for the food they have; and in terms of stay,
exclusivity and the views, she listed the Empire Hotel and Country
Club.
Serina is leaving today for home
and her show is planned to be aired on Astro. The tour was supported
by the Brunei Tourism, Royal Brunei Airlines, the Empire Hotel and
Country Club and others. -- Courtesy of Borneo
