By Liza Mohd
Kuala Belait
- Officers recently busted an illegal rice wine 'brewery',
which was allegedly run by a Vietnamese at a house along Jalan
Mualana in Kuala Belait. The home-brewed rice wine (more commonly
known as `tuck') was stored inside used mineral water bottles.
The foreign worker was brought in
for questioning.
Meanwhile, two bottles of liquor
without proper import permits were seized from two Indian workers at
a rented house in Jalan Laksmana.
Thirty officers were involved in
the joint operation codenamed "Pintas 37", which targeted several
rented houses around the Belait District such as Jalan Maulana,
Jalan Dipa Negara Mumong, Kampong Sungai Pandan Kuala Belait and
Jalan Laksmana.
The operation, which started at
9.30pm, was headed by the Belait Immigration Enforcement Section.
Personnel from the Royal Brunei Police Force, as well as the Customs
Preventive and Intelligence Unit Belait, were also involved.
Some 113 foreign workers from
Indonesia, Philippines, India, Vietnam and Malaysia were inspected
that night. Seven of them were issued with special passes.
