New Comic Book Xibit Debuts At
Book Fair
By P. Marilyn
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Xibit, the comic book featuring the fusion cartoon
and manga style comics, made its debut yesterday at the Brunei Book
Fair and will continue to be on sale until today at the
International Convention Centre in Berakas.
The comic book is the outcome of
various creative and talented local artists coming together to put
their ideas and artwork together.
As one of the youngest contributing
artists for Xibit, 14-year-old Miao and 15-year-old Yee Sin,
students of International School Brunei (ISB), were proud to see
their artwork being compiled and vowed to do better for the second
issue of Xibit.
Miao,
the artist, based her painting on the story created by Yee Sin, who
gets her inspiration from Japanese based comic books.
"As the story unfolded, I pictured
it in my head and drew it," said Miao.
The pair fused their talents, Miao
with her skills and love for painting and Yee Sin with her
creativity in composing stories.
Meanwhile, Mohd Denny Azriman bin
Hj Madni also known as Ambuyart, one of the nine contributing
artists/ cartoonists for Xibit, said that it took them two months to
gather the artwork.
They each came up with their own
ideas, storyline, colours and graphics, and used different mediums
such as painting, watercolor and Photoshop. -- Courtesy of Borneo
