Lim Han Lun Wins Battle Of New Stars

Bandar Seri Begawan - Lim Han Lun emerged as the champion in the Brunei Snooker Selection Tournament, edging Lim Yuong Wee out to second place in a thrilling final, which was held from Feb 29 to Mar 2.

Lim Han Lun beat Lim Yuong Wee 4-3 in the best-of-seven series yesterday at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. Both players gave their best performance despite both having qualified to represent Brunei in the upcoming Penang Snooker Invitation 2008 from March 31 to April 5.

Lim Han Lun, top of Group B, beat Mohd Hazwan 4-1 in the semifinal, while Lim Yuong Wee overcame a strong resistance from Mohd Rosli to win 4-3 in the other semifinal. Lim Yuong Wee was top scorer in Group A.

The event was held by Brunei Darussalam Cue Sports Association to discover and groom a new batch of young players to represent the sultanate.

The association will focus on two other major events this year, namely ASIAN U-21 Snooker Championship in Myanmar and ASIAN Snooker Championship in Dubai.

Mohd Hazwan, 15 years old, will be one of the players to represent Brunei in the U-21 tournament starting from April 10 to 15.
