Call For An Overhead Bridge
By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Members of the public are calling for a
construction of an overhead bridge for pedestrians at a traffic
light junction near Chung Hwa Middle School in the capital.
With over one thousand students in
the largest Chinese school in the Sultanate, parents have to send
and pick up their children from the school, crossing the traffic
lights. Many children also have to make their own way across to the
parking lot near the Royal Regalia.
According to one of the parents,
Mohd Rafe, he said: "A overhead bridge will be a good idea.
Everyday, the area is so congested with traffic and people crossing
the road. A overhead bridge will not only ease the traffic flow but
also help pedestrians and the children to cross over the other side
safely."
Another parent, Ah Guan, said:
"With an overhead bridge here, parents can park at the parking lot
opposite the Royal Regalia to send their children to school,
therefore easing the traffic congestion."
"We hope that the relevant
authorities would help us to provide a overhead bridge for the
safety of our children," he added.
The call for an overhead pedestrian
bridge at the area was also proposed by Pehin Dato Paduka Gob King
Chin during the Legislative Council last year. -- Courtesy of Borneo
