Religious Schools To Become
Hi-Tech

Begawan - An integrated interactive teaching and learning
system (InTel) will be introduced to most of the religious education
institutions in the country to enhance creative learning in
classrooms.

"The InTel is an e-Government
project of the Islamic Studies Department that has been planned
since 2002 while the Islamic Studies Department was under the
Ministry of Education," said Ustazah Hajah Kasmah bte Haji Siput,
Director of Islamic Studies Department under the Ministry of
Religious Affairs.
She added that the purpose of
the InTel project is to supply computer labs to religious
education institutions such as Religious Teachers College,
Arabic Schools and religious schools that are under the Islamic
Studies Department. A total of 42 InTel computer labs and a
multimedia lab will be provided under the project.
"It is hoped that this project
will increase the creativity of teachers and expose them to
using computer technology in teaching students. With this,
teaching will be more proficient as it will increase the
students' interest and their understanding towards what is being

taught," she said.
The signing of a contract
between the Department of Islamic Studies under the Ministry of
Religious Affairs and Syarikat Alif Technologies Sdn Bhd for the
supply, analysis, design, delivery, installation, integration,
testing, deployment, training, commissioning and maintenance of
software and other related services for the implementation of
the InTel project for the Ministry of Religious Affairs took
place yesterday. |
Present as the guest of honour was
Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs,
Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ishaaq bin Haji Abdullah.
Signing on behalf of the Ministry
of Religious Affairs was Ustazah Hajah Kasmah while representing
Syarikat Alif Technologies Sdn Bhd was the Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, Pg Haji Mohammad bin Pg Haji Kamaluddin.
According to IT Coordinator of the
e-Government Project from the Department of Religious Studies, Husny
bin Abang Haji Taha, among the religious institutions listed under
the InTel Project are Seri Begawan Religious Teaching College
University and Arabic Schools throughout the country.
Also listed under the project are
religious schools throughout Brunei such as Paduka Seri Begawan
Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Religious School, PAP Rashidah Saadatul
Bolkiah Religious School and Sungai Taring Religious School in
Belait, Tumpuan Telisai Religious School, PAP Norain Religious
School, Sengkarai Religious School, Penanjong Religious School,
Lamunin Religious School and Kiudang Religious School in Tutong as
well as Bokok Religious School in Temburong. --
