Local Cuisine Promoted In Hanoi

Begawan - The Empire Hotel & Country Club recently promoted
local traditional cuisine in Vietnam in conjunction with Brunei's
23rd National Day Celebration.
Brunei Darussalam's Embassy in the
Socialist Republic of Vietnam, hosted the food promotion at the
Grand Ballroom of Melia Hotel in Hanoi.
It was attended by Asean
ambassadors and high commissioners based in Vietnam and other
invited guests.
The Empire Hotel & Country Club
chefs served Brunei's traditional cuisine from starters, main
courses to dessert. The dishes included Acar (pickled vegetables),
Sambal (a condiment made from a variety of chillies, and used as a
side dish), Serunding (meat floss), Beef Rendang (beef cooked in
coconut milk and spices), Kueh Jala (Jala cake), Belutak (local
salty, snakeshaped sausage) and more.
"The most popular cuisine amongst
all was Ambuyat (a sago-based, tasteless, sticky food eaten with
condiments with the use of Malay chopsticks fused at one end) and
Kueh Jala, which had impressed all guests.”We do hope that through
this food promotion, Brunei will be more-well-known to people from
Vietnam," said Aziz Mohd Yusof, Chef deCuisine of The Empire Hotel &
Country Club.
"We were delighted to be selected
in preparing the local traditional cuisine for this special event at
the same time promoting Brunei through the local traditional Brunei
