Food Sector Invited To Join Exhibition In KL
By Achong Tanjong

Bandar Seri Begawan - Food manufacturers and service businesses in the country are encouraged to participate in the upcoming Food Ingredient Asia 2005 (Fi Asia) to be hosted by Malaysia for the first time at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur from September 27 to 29.

Dr Nik Ismail Nik Daud, President of the Malaysian Institute of Food Technology, was quoted by Bernama as saying that the exhibition is very timely and will benefit many groups including food manufacturers, food service businesses, suppliers, food-related professionals, such as food technologists and nutritionists, and relevant government agencies.

He added that the exhibition, launched in 1990, has become the number one trade show in the regional food market.

"With the participations from these manufacturers and business operators, the food industry will be exposed to the latest products in the market, as the objective is to fulfil the demand for better food by consumers who are growing more discriminating when choosing the food to buy," he said.

Organised by CMP Information, Fi Asia is intended as a cost-effective method for food ingredient suppliers to market their products in the region.

The organiser said Malaysia was chosen as the venue as it has a wide range of food ingredients designed to appeal to the Asian consumers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
