Filipina Loses Handbag To Snatcher
In Dark Alley
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Filipina in her 30s became a victim of theft late
Tuesday night after her handbag was grabbed by a man who escaped in
his car.
The incident occurred in a dark
street near Menglait's commercial complexes.
However, it was a vain attempt by the
snatcher, as the bag did not contain any money inside except for an
electronic cash card, an IC and a few personal belongings.
The woman was on her way home from
work at about 10.30 pm when a man appeared out of nowhere to snatch
her bag.
The victim shouted to attract public
attention but the thief escaped in a waiting vehicle with its rear
licence plate removed to avoid being detected.
At first, she did not want to make a
police report as nothing valuable was lost.
However, she was persuaded to do so
that other snatchers would be dissuaded from doing the same.
The case is currently under
investigation.
Concerned members of the public
called for people to be cautious when walking in dark alleys. --
