Crude Oil Supply To Hawaii And Alaska Continues

Bandar Seri Begawan - Representatives from Tesoro Refining and Marketing Company, a leading independent refiner in the western United States, has renewed its oil supply relationship with Brunei Shell Petroleum Co. Sdn Bhd (BSP).

Following an informal luncheon meeting, the exchange of contract documents took place at the Empire Hotel and Country Club.

BSP was represented by Awg Shahbudin Hj Musa, the Head of Oil Trading. Iype Chacko, Vice President of Crude Oil Supply, represented Tesoro Refining and Marketing Company.

Simon Yim, Manager of International Supply, Tesoro Petroleum (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. and other BSP Oil Trading staff witnessed the event.

The contract from January 1 until December 31, 2005 for the supply of Seria Light Export Blend (SLEB) marks the 4th year of term business between the two companies.

With the oil supply arrangement, Tesoro retains its position as the only refiner in the United States to process crude oils from Brunei Darussalam on a regular basis.

Through Tesoro's network of refineries and retail stations, it converts Brunei crudes into, among others, gasoline for the ordinary motorists in places like Hawaii and Alaska.

Commenting on the business relationship with BSP, Chacko explained "this fits very well with our strategy to diversify our crude supply from different parts of the world. Also the crudes from Brunei are some of the most preferred crudes for our Alaska and Hawaii refineries".

"Tesoro started a long term relationship with Brunei Shell several years ago and hopes to continue the relationship into the future", added Chacko.

Tesoro is a Fortune 500 company and is one of the largest independent petroleum refiners and marketers in the United States.

It owns and operates six refineries in the western part of the United States with a combined capacity of nearly 560,000 barrels per day, producing a range of motor fuels and other petroleum products. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
