By Dannie Abu Basrah

The Red Giants, Selangor regained the
top spot in Group A of the 2005 Malaysian Premier League with a 3-0
home win over Melaka as previous leaders Selangor MK Land failed to
extend their lead at the top after they were gunned down 3-2 by Kedah
at the Darul Aman stadium in Alor Setar.
In other matches, Kuala Lumpur
secured three points at home with a slim 1-0 win against Kelantan TNB
with the strike from S Sunder on the 67th minute.
Brunei were stunned 2-1 at home by
Pulau Pinang NTFA as Rosli Azizan's double on the 6th and 85th minute
were enough to snatch for the visitors all three points as Brunei only
managed to hit back with a goal from Fadlin Galawat on the 45th
minute. Brunei are still in fifth spot
The game between Kedah and Selangor
MK Land was certainly the highlight of the week as the clash produced
five goals, four scored in only the first half of the match.
Mohd
Nor Derus was quick to give the visitors the lead as he put MK Land in
front on the 10th minute but their celebration was cut short as
Gabriel Mendez equalised two minutes later.
With top place at stake, MK Land
scored the second on the 14th minute also through Mohd Nor Derus to
take the lead again but the home team fought back when they levelled
the game for the second time, also from Gabriel Mendez scoring on the
37th minute to end the half with the tie locked at 2-2.
As the game got back into play in the
second half, the home side killed off the game through Hasmawi Hassan
on the 76th minute after being awarded a penalty where the game ended
with Kedah beating MK Land 3-2.
As for the game at the Shah Alam
Stadium, Selangor determined to jump back in first place, put up a
solid performance as they convincingly defeated Melaka 3-0 with goals
from Bambang Pamungkas on the 20th minute, Brian Fuentes (85th) and
Mohd Haris Safwan on the final minute of the game.
In the next fixture, Kelantan TNB
will entertain league leaders Selangor at the Sultan Mohd IV stadium
in Kota Bharu while the Wasps will travel to the Majlis Perbandaran
Selayang Stadium to face Selangor MK Land.
