No More Egg Shortage In The Sultanate
By Rosli Abidin Yahya

Bandar Seri Begawan - The temporary importation of eggs from neighbouring countries has successfully alleviated the egg shortage in the country.

Grocery shop operators said as a result of allowing the importation of eggs in large quantities by the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources, the Sultanate now has enough egg supplies for everyone.

A few days before the Chinese New Year festivities last month, the country experienced a shortage of eggs.

Earlier, the Department of Agriculture had allowed only a limited number of imported eggs, which was insufficient to cater to the local demand.

"With the increased import quota of eggs, the egg shortage has been overcome," said traders who extended their thanks to the Department of Agriculture for their swift action.

Egg production in the country has reached 108 million per year with an average of eight to nine million per month. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
