Thai General Visits Brunei’s MinDef

Begawan - Royal Thai Armed Forces Supreme Commander General
Chaisit Shinawatra yesterday paid a visit to the Ministry of Defence.
Accompanying the supreme commander
and the group of delegates was Sornilp Polteja, Thai Ambassador to
Brunei.
During the visit, General Chaisit
Shinawatra and the delegates also made separate courtesy calls to Pg
Sanggamara Diraja Major General (Rtd) Pg Hj Ibnu Ba'asith Pg Datu
Penghulu Hj Apong, Deputy Minister of Defence, and Pehin Datu
Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi Hj Md Yussof¸
Royal Brunei Anned Forces (RBAF) Commander.
Earlier, the supreme commander
received and inspected a guard of honour mounted by personnel from the
First Battalion of the Royal Brunei Land Force.
This was followed by a courtesy call
to the Deputy Minister of Defence and RBAF Commander.
The supreme commander later sat in on
a briefing delivered by the Director of Intelligence, who spoke on the
organisation structures of both the Minister of Defence and RBAF.
Also in attendance were members of
the Thai delegation, military commanders and commandants as well as
military directors at the Ministry of Defence.
Later in the afternoon, General
Chaisit Shinawatra made a courtesy call to His Majesty the Sultan and
Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei at the Istana Nurul Iman.
The three-day official visit aims to
strengthen relations and the importance of cooperation between the two
armed forces.
During his stay, the supreme
commander will visit several places of interest, including the Oil and
Gas Discovery Centre (OGDC) in Seria and Royal Regalia.
The Thai General is scheduled to
leave the country today. --
