18 Belait Red Crescent Officials Promoted

Kuala Belait - A total of 18 officials from the Belait District Red Crescent Association were awarded with a `Surat Tauliah' to mark their promotion during a presentation ceremony held at Sea View Hotel, Kuala Belait yesterday morning.

Chief guest was Awg Jimmy Foo Jee Shing, National Training and Development Officer of Brunei Darussalam Red Crescent Association, presented the 'Surat Tauliah' to officials.

He also received membership certificates along with 13 other officials.

Awang Hj Bujang bin Harun, District Director of Belait District Red Crescent Association, in his speech reminded association members to take responsibilities entrusted to them seriously.

He added that the Red Crescent is a voluntary association established to assist the community and residents in need.

Awg Hj Bujang said as a non-governmental organisation with the responsibility of a `rescuer', a committee was set up following the tsunami disaster to provide assistance to victims by opening an operations room to receive aid from members of public, including clothing, food and other items from January 1 till February 25.

Apart from that, the association has also worked hard to provide assistance to fire victims in the country.

Members of the Red Crescent are also actively involved in voluntary work during public events, including His Majesty's birthday celebration, Awg Hj Bujang concluded. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
