Belait Picks 8 Qaris, 3 Qariahs For Nat'l Al-Quran Reading Competition

Kuala Belait - Eight qaris and three qariahs from the Belait District were selected to compete in the National Al-Quran Reading Competition to be held in the capital.

They were selected from among 28 contestants, who took part in an al-Quran reading competition for adults at the Muhamad Jamalul Alam Mosque yesterday.

The competition organised by the Mosque Affairs Department in Belait District was aimed at enhancing the skills of al-Quran reading among Muslims in the district and establishing closer relations between worshippers and mosque committee members of Muhamad Jamalul Alam Mosque.

The winner in the qari section was Awang Haji Abd Rahman bin Haji Awang Mukim while the second place went to Awang Omarizam bin Haji Abu Bakar and Awang Haji Shaliheen bin Haji Kassim came in third.

In the qariah section, the winner was Dayang Rohani binti Haji Hassan while the second and third prizes went to Dayang Hajah Hamsiah binti Haji Md Hussain and Pengiran Hajah Jasneni binti Pengiran Omarali, respectively.
