By Helena M Mahathir & Sonia K
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Brunei delegation is currently in Tokyo, Japan to
take part in the Aichi Expo 2005 which has attracted participants from
more than 120 countries around the world.
Brunei Pavilion at the expo was
officially launched by Mr Alias Serbini, Acting Brunei Darussalam
Ambassador to Japan, on March 23.
Aichi Expo is an effort by the
Japanese government to develop new modalities of life for the 21st
century, and an attempt to rediscover `Nature's Wisdom' - science and
technology inherent in the surroundings that together foster a sound
balance between human life and the environment.
Visitors to the expo will experience
`Nature's Wisdom' in three contexts: Rediscovering Nature, An Eco-Friendly Life With Nature's Wisdom and Visit the Future With
Nature's Wisdom.
The Expo will showcase amazing
cutting-edge technologies, giving solutions to myriad global issues
and enabling the sustainable development of the world economy.
A wide range of cultural legacy and
artistic beauty of the world will be displayed throughout the event
with numerous world-class performers appearing on stage every day.
One
example is the "Love the Earth" international music project with Mr
Eric Clapton, its major contributor.
The expo not only focuses on
entertainment but also promotes dialogue among world intellectuals to
address issues on environment, energy, population, urban development
and other areas which are of global concern.
The various seminars and symposia,
which will take place during the expo hopes to create a global wisdom
network and a long-term intellectual heritage, which is the vision of
Aichi Expo 2005.
Meanwhile, the upcoming National Day
of Brunei will be celebrated on May 18 at the Brunei Pavilion at the
event.
