BITEX Highlights International Computer Driving Licence

Bandar Seri Begawan - In a bid to support national efforts to make Information Technology a key platform for economic diversification, Bitex Holdings Sdn Bhd has come up with a plan to introduce public members to ICDL at the three-day BITEX exhibition starting tomorrow.

ICDL -- International Computer Driving Licence - is an internationally recognised qualification that enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills, where the licence is recognised in Europe, China, SEA and Australia.

Bitex Holdings, the local business partner of ICDL Asia Pacific LTD for Borneo, believes an "e-Society" begins with equipping the human resources with IT literacy and practical skills at the basic levels.

ICDL is a mass consumer product that has fast becoming the most widely recognised computer qualification worldwide, aimed at raising the level of IT knowledge and competency of all computer users as well as to ensure that best practice and quality issues are understood and implemented.

How it works is that the syllabus is designed to cover the key concepts of Computer, its practical application and their use in the workplace and society in generals.

What is more important for those who are new to computers is that ICDL will provide them with a solid foundation of computer skills helping them to competently and confidently use computers.

The licence will also confirm the individuals' potential to the employers that he or she has a recognised, relevant and up-to-date qualification.

From the employers' point of view, ICDL will help reduce wasted time through lack of knowledge and ineffective IT working methods, which will help cut IT support costs.

Registration should be made at the Accredited Test Centres whereby SEAMEO VOCTECH is the current Accredited Test Centre in Brunei.

The tests may be taken in any order at an individual's own pace; they can either take the test all at once but have to complete the test within three years.

Upon completion, the individual will receive the IDCL certificates.
