Berakas Car Show Draws Large Crowd

Bandar Seri Begawan - Some 200 vintage, classic and new wheels, worth mil lions of dollars, were showcases at the parking lot of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex, Berakas yesterday, attracting a large crowd of car enthusiasts who admired the unique workmanship and historical values of the vehicles.

A fleet of classic and new Austin Minis aside, brands that attracted the most attention included the TD2000 Silverstone Roadster, which is a new version of the Ford Model T, and Volkswagen Beetles.

An array of scooters Could also be found at the exhibition.

Spokesman of the show Lobo said the event was a Good platform for vintage and classic car owners "to show off their prized possessions".

He also thanked the public for attending the event which demonstrated their support for their exhibition effort.

"The large attendance is encouragement enough for future organisers to hold such shows," he said.

The TD2000 Silverstone Roadster, displayed by distributor Sri Sentosa Sdn Bhd, drew in plenty of enthusiasts who were pleased to find out the company had 11 units of the model, according to the administrator Sharifah Faridah Shaikh Hj Alimad.

She added, "One unit has been booked but we are still waiting for the green light to sell them which we hope to obtain very soon."

She also said the TD2000, which has a 4-cylinder, DOHC with four valves per cylinder and 3-way catalytic converter, conies in various colours and two models: automatic 4-speed at $68, 525.10, and manual 5-speed at $65, 910.10. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
