The benefit of paying parking fees
through mobile phones is that there is no need for drivers to pay
cash.
It will also eliminate non-payment of fees at car
parks under the jurisdiction of BSB or Kuala Belait Municipal
Board.
The system has been up and
running in many European countries and will be implemented in
Malaysia, too.
Motorists need to open an account
with the car park operator through a web site.
The system uses mobile phone
numbers as an identification and authentication device for
convenience and security.
"Payments can be made via credit
cards. After registering, a starter pack will be delivered, which
will include a windscreen pass sticker and a list of parking
rates. Just attach the sticker to your windscreen and follow the
instructions displayed at the back of the sticker," said the
entrepreneur.
The entrepreneur did not wish to
reveal how the system will work.
He, however, said motorists need
to be fully educated on the new system.
For the operator, this new
time-saving system will help solve the problem of managing many
cars during peak hours.
