Kg Sg Hanching Mosque dynamics

The Masjid Kg Sg Hanching has elected a new Takmir Committee last Wednesday to ensure the effectiveness of the mosque, not only as a place of worship but also as a social institution which functions dynamically to spur the community in the vicinity in organising and supporting religious events and ceremonies.

Pehin Dato Haji Suyoi bin Hj Osman, the Deputy Minister of Education, and Dato Paduka Hj Hamdani bin Hj Abd Rahman were elected as advisers.

Imam Hj Mahalee Hj Besar, was appointed as the chairman of the committee by virtue of his position as the mosque Imam.

Lt Kol (R ) Pg Hj Ramli bin Pg Hj Bunut was appointed as the new deputy chairman while Hj Mohd Zaide bin Hj Damit retained his position as the secretary.

Imam Hj Sari bin Nasir, the other mosque imam, was elected as the treasurer while Major (R ) Hj Karim bin Safar was picked to be the deputy treasurer.

The chairman of the Takmir committee, Imam Hj Mahalee, called for cooperation from all elected members to ensure mosque activities and ceremonies be properly organised and supported.

He also called for cooperation from intellectuals too as mosque and intellectuals are inter-related.

"Both parties share the same enthusiasm and aspiration. As an institution, mosques serve to group and stir the social system of the community in the vicinity.

"Intellectuals form a genius group which is vital in promoting the social system in the vicinity of this mosque," he said.

He said feedback, advice and visions of the intellectual group are vital to help run mosques effectively, in line with their status of being educated people.

He said with cooperation from the intellectuals, the mosque could undergo a process of change and renewal in organising its activities.

"Their participation is vital in improving the quality of the social community in the vicinity of the mosque including to strengthen the discipline of the community towards values and ethics," he said.

He also called for the participation of the community in the vicinity of the mosque in supporting all events and activities organised by the mosque.

Meanwhile, Hj Mohd Zaide said that Masjid Kg Sg Hanching will celebrate the Maulidur Rasul or the Birthday Celebration of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) by organising daily religious activities for 12 evenings commencing April 10 to 21.

He said the mosque welcomes charity donations towards sponsoring any of the 12 evenings.

"Prospective organisations or individuals may contact Imam Hj Mahalee, the chairman of the Takmir Committee for more details," he said.

He also called on Muslims to make themselves available during the celebration period and attend the ceremonies.
